促腎上腺皮質(zhì)激素(ACTH)是由腦垂體前葉分泌的多肽激素,，作用于腎上腺皮質(zhì)刺激腎上腺類固醇,、醛固酮,、皮質(zhì)醇和腎上腺雄激素的合成和分泌,，也是男子重要的糖皮質(zhì)激素皮質(zhì)醇的主要的調(diào)節(jié)者,。ACTH是下丘腦-腦垂體-腎上腺軸的重要組成部分,，通常是在生物應(yīng)激反應(yīng)中產(chǎn)生的,。當血中的皮質(zhì)醇水平增高，腦垂體釋放的促腎上腺皮質(zhì)激素被抑制,，相反,，腦垂體釋放的促腎上腺皮質(zhì)激素的水平則提高。促腎上腺皮質(zhì)激素在每天清晨(6:00-8:00)達到峰值,，到零時降到最-低狀態(tài),。
