Cast Resin Parts Duromer
DUROMERS sphere of activity is the application of casting resins in the electrical industry for the production of casting resin isolations.
The company develops and formulates casting resin molding materials for electrical applications in the low and medium voltage range and for electronics. We sketch and produce casting resin-isolated devices and shaped parts for application in electrical energy engineering. In the engineering range we advise you with the material and procedure selection as well as with customized constructions.
Our enterprise specialized in the use of casting resins in the electrical industry. The main production departments of DUROMER are manufacturing of casting resin masses and their processing to isolators as well as the production of solid-isolated electrical devices.
We give advice on designing casting resin parts, the construction of electrical isolators and the tools necessary for production. Producer-independently we recommend the casting resins suitable for your products and its optimal processing techniques. Also we grant our knowledge for choosing the right machines.
We use our specialized knowledge for the development of casting resin shaped parts.
Also we accomplish development examinations to isolating abilities, freedom from partial discharges and the fulfilment of climatic demands.
The special prescription of the casting resins is the key to a quality product.
We evaluate the pro and cons of the different casting resin systems. The different components are mixed depending upon requirements. Both prescriptions are arranged for PU resin and epoxy resin systems. As well the ready-made casting resin masses are supplied.
DUROMER manufactures mainly on basis of PU and acts as system house partner the Bavarian material Science AG.

Product Overview
What are Duromere?
The group of the thermosetting polymers, often also called Duromere, contains plastics, which solidify by chemical reaction. They react usually with a polyaddition and interlace to a spatially close lattice from macromolecules, which lends its high mechanical firmness to the thermosetting polymer. This hardening by means of structural change of the molecule is not reversible.Thermosetting polymers do not know a softening range, the material keeps also at high temperatures its firmness and has a high thermostability. Thermosetting polymers are characterised by its hardness and rigidity. The small coefficient of expansion brings a high measure stability. Also the behaviour in case of fire of thermosetting polymers is favourable.

Epoxy cast resin Power Transformers
RITZ produces transformers in Glass Fibre reinforced Vacuum Technology (GVT) for ratings up to 25 MVA and 40,5 kV voltage class for various applications as follows.

Glass Fibre reinforced Vacuum Technology (GVT) is used for High Voltage coils and optionally for Low Voltage coils in order to guarantee the highest possible quality and reliability to avoid cracks or voids during manufacturing and service.

The environmental protection requirements are taken into account in the design of RITZ Cast Resin Transformers.
High Voltage Coil
The copper winding of the High Voltage (HV) coil is insulated using glass fibre epoxy resin laminate. The HV coil is cast into moulds in a vacuum process with pure epoxy resin. The manufacturing process ensures a cavity free insulating system of the highest quality. The HV coil is free of partial discharge and protected against surges.
Tapping links are brought onto the outside of each coil and are readily adjustable when switched off. The HV coils are flame-resistant and self extinguishing. The HV coil can be designed with air ducts to cool the windings efficiently at a technically suitable coil length. Tapping links are brought out onto the outside face of each coil and are readily adjustable in deenergized state. The HV coils are hardly inflammable and self extinguishing. In case of fire no toxic fumes are produced.
Low Voltage Coil
The Low Voltage Coil (LV) consists of copper conductors formed in a vacuum process with epoxy resin impregnation to temperature class F. As an option, LV coils can be supplied as HV (GVT) design. This is usually undertaken for voltage ratings above 1kV.
Core
The core lamination is made of low loss, cold rolled grain oriented silicon steel. The cross section of the iron has a circular shape. The core is cut stacked using a “Step Lap” formation to keep the idle periods and magnetizing currents as low as possible. The core is compley coated with epoxy resin to protect it against corrosion and is earthed in accordance with the required standards.
Assembly
The coils are mounted on pre-adjusted fibreglass reinforced supports wit excellent thermal expansion and noise-absorbing properties. The complete assembly is mounted on bi-directional rollers which allow movement in both directions. HV terminals and LV bus bars are normally on the opposite sides of the transformer and are mounted at easily accessible positions.
Accessories
Thermistors (PTC) are embedded in each LV coil and connected to terminals mounted on the upper clamp. As an alternative, PT 100 can be provided for the LV coils. An electronic relay with alarm and trip contacts (voltage free) is provided.
Tests
RITZ is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 and undertakes testing to all applicable international standards. The complete transformer is subject to all routine testing including partial discharge test (pre-test and complete). Type testing and special tests can be performed on request.
Dry Type Transformers
Production facilities allow manufacturing of custom made dry type transformers and reactors. Flexible winding and core design is available to meet a wide range of transformers for special applications and requirements. Different manufacturing technologies such as Glass fibre reinforced Vacuum Technology (GVT), vacuum impregnation or encapsulation with mineral filled epoxy resin can be used. Application of heat shrinking tapes and protective resin provides the highest mechanical strength and good moisture protection.

Pole Mounted Transformers
RITZ offers a wide range of pole mounted transformers with outdoor weatherproof enclosures especially designed for pole mounting. RITZ pole mounted cast resin transformers are the preferred substitute for the liquid filled transformers particularly in environmentally sensitive areas. The transformers are designed and tested as a complete assembly unit ensuring safe use and protection against electric shock. The transformers have undergone testing in both wet and dry conditions.
Solid insulated busbar system
General Information
Especially for the transmission of higher current and in case of limited space, the solid busbar insulation system is an alternative to parallelconnected cables and metalenclosed busbar connections.

Production Length
The length and geometric shape is limited by the size of the equipment, local facilities and the means of transportation.
Multiple Busbar Connections
The length of the individual busbars is limited by the manufacturing process, transportation and installation conditions. For complex installations the busbars have to be connected. The connection is performed with flexible connectors between the busbars to allow thermal expansion and to compensate for tolerances during installation. These joints are fully insulated by connection sleeves, which cover the capacitive grading at the busbar ends.
Busbar Fixing
For installation of the busbar system a flexible mounting system is used. Adjustments can easily be done at site. The busbar fixing clamps include aluminium C-profiles, angles, T-screws and fixing clamps. The fixing elements are adjustable with respect to each other and adjustable in all directions therefore allowing compensation for building tolerances. The fixing clamps include fixed bearings and movable bearings allowing the busbar to move axially within the fixing clamps in case of thermal expansion. In the first instance, the capability of the equipment to withstand a short-circuit must be considered for the busbar fixing. Another criterion is the natural frequency of the busbar. The distance between fixing points must be chosen to avoid resonance with respect to the power frequency of the system and its harmonics. The distance between the fixing points of the busbar is individually calculated for each order.

Fixing Clamps
The standard connection between busbars is a standardized flat terminal in accordance with the rated current.
There is a wide range of possibilities for connecting the system with the plant. For optimal connection a customized design can be realised.
Earthing
A separate earthing connection dimensioned in accordance with the required short circuit current generally has to be installed parallel to the busbar system. Every single busbar, connection sleeve and metallic fixation material has to be earthed on this earthing connection. If a busbar or a connecting sleeve is not earthed correctly these elements will be destroyed after a certain amount of time.
